Workshops at Union Bank Arts Centre

 

The Workshops provide short term instruction in a wide range of art and other media subjects, including painting and drawing, sculpture, printmaking, airbrush, etching, ceramics, creative writing and TV acting. The workshops are designed for both adults and children.

 

Life Drawing

Class size: 7-15 people

 

 Come and work with Dianne Jacono who also Lectures at Ballarat University. Explore your creative side and develop observational skills through life drawing classes, a combination of quick and lengthy poses, using a number of different materials and drawing techniques.

 

Foundation Drawing

Class size: 7-15 people

 

Come and learn how to draw. Drawing is not just about technique, it is about learning how to see in a new way. The projects in the foundation lessons are based on everyday objects and using visual reference in a new way to create artistic compositions that can be used for paintings, printmaking or graphic artworks.

 

Creative History Writing

Class size: 7-15 people

2 Day course

 

Using your research from your family or community’s history. Turn it into a book worth reading, not just for the future generations of your family but by all Australians. Tutor Jill Blee is a historian and writer. She is the author of “The Pines Hold Their Secrets”, “Brigid” and “The Liberators Birthday”, combining Australian and Irish History and Genealogy with fiction.

 

Painting with Acrylics and Oils:

Class size: 7-15 people

Weekend course

Learn how to paint with confidence, mix colors, stretch canvases and prepare grounds.

This course is also for beginner students who want to develop their own style. Through studying other artist’s work and gaining insight and awareness of pictorial design and composition, the student will develop a folio of exciting imagery and have completed work in a personalized direction.

 

Air Brush Workshop

 “Portraiture”

Class size: 7-15 people

2 Days

Create a contemporary art piece using a different and unique technique of airbrushing by the Venturi specialist Laurent Machado.

The workshop covers a wide range of expert advice making the learning experience confident and logical.

By the end of the workshop you will complete a life size portrait.

 

Etching and Drypoint Workshop

Class size: 7-15 people

2 Day workshop

Come and learn the history and technique of etching.

 You will complete several finished etching prints that are worthy of display.       

 

TV Acting Workshop

(Screen Actors Studio)

Want to be an actor? Come and work with Helen Gaynor, director of Australian Drama Series "Something In The Air", "Big Sky and "Neighbours".

You will be introduced to the emotionally real style of acting called "Method Acting" and shown all the language and procedures used in today’s fast turnaround television drama environment.

 

 ‘Young Art Achievers’ Workshop

Create your own unique Gouache Painting that will be produced into a commercial product.

The workshop ’Young Art Achievers’ aim is to offer the young artist a program that teaches at an early age how to be both Artist and Entrepreneur.

After you have been given a brief overview of small business you will look at targeting a specific market and then immerse yourself in exploring a theme.
